WEBSTER - Theodore J. “Ted” Lorkiewicz, 81, of Webster, died Sunday, June 20, 2010, in the Rose Monahan Hospice Home in Worcester.
He leaves his wife of 53 years, Barbara A. (Sczepanski) Lorkiewicz; 3 sons, Robert J. Lorkiewicz and his wife Elena of Shrewsbury, Dr. Stephen M. Lorkiewicz and his wife Patricia of Webster, and Gary M. Lorkiewicz and his wife Catherine of Sutton; 6 grandchildren, Lauren, Stacey, Katie, Jessica, Julia and Matthew Lorkiewicz; a sister, Theresa Piotrowski of Uxbridge; a brother, Frank Lorkiewicz of Webster; nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Joseph and William Lorkiewicz, and by 2 sisters, Rose Nowacki and Sophie Lorkiewicz.
He was born in Webster, a son of Frank and Stasia (Sterczala) Lorkiewicz and was a lifelong resident. He graduated from Bartlett High School in 1947, where he played varsity football and basketball. He earned an Associate Degree in Engineering from Worcester Junior College in 1958.
He was an Air Force veteran of the Korean War.
Mr. Lorkiewicz worked for the New England Power Service Company first as a technician and then as a supervisor before he retired in 1990.
He was a communicant of Saint Louis Church. He was a member of the Polish American Veterans. He served on the Webster Conservation Commission for 15 years, on the Webster Zoning Board for 10 years, and as chairman of the Webster Lake Commission for 5 years. He was a sports enthusiast and also enjoyed spending time at Webster Lake.
A memorial Mass will be held Wednesday, June 23, at 10:00 AM in Saint Louis Church, 14 Lake Street. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family. There are no calling hours. Donations in his name may be made to either Saint Louis School Endowment Fund, 15 Lake Street, Webster, or to the VNA Care Network and Hospice, 120 Thomas Street, Worcester, MA 01608. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Sitkowski & Malboeuf Funeral Home, 340 School Street.
