Obituary

AUBURN-Carol Anne (Murphy) Ford born in Worcester on April 8, 1936 died Saturday, May 8, 2010 after sudden illness with her family by her bedside. Carol was the daughter of Joseph and Lillian Murphy. Carol is survived by her beloved husband of 52 years, George Ford of Auburn; two sons, Joseph Ford of Sutton and David and his wife Tammy of Glastonbury, CT; her daughter Katy and her husband Mark Kraemer of Shrewsbury; her grandchildren Brandon, Jacquelyn, Valerie, Sebastian, Cody, Alexa, David Jr. (DJ), and Ty; her brother Bernard Murphy of Worcester; two sisters Joyce Murphy of Oxford and Maureen Stacy of Millbury. Carol was predeceased by her brother Joseph Murphy and her sister Ellen Courville.
Carol earned her Master’s in nursing from Anna Maria College and her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Assumption College. Carol was the director of nursing at the Belmont Home and the Christopher House. A nurse of over thirty years, Carol worked in many of Worcester’s hospitals. Carol was leader in the nursing and healthcare field. A well published author, Carol published “Sensitizing the Nursing Assistant to Common Sensory Losses of the Elderly” and “Stress Leadership Role”. Carol developed various educational programs and was a leader on numerous task forces on public health. Carol was an avid bridge player, earning the prestigious designation of Life Master as a member of the Cavendish Club.
Calling hours will be on Tuesday, May 11th from 4:00 until 7:00 PM in O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue, Worcester. A memorial service will follow immediately. Burial will be private.
