Mrs. Filomena (Bertone) Bertone 89, of Norton and a former longtime Franklin resident, died Tuesday March 10, 2009 at Sturdy Memorial Hospital, where she had been a patient for more than a week. She was the wife of the late Nicola Bertone who died in 1990.
Born in St. Angelo in Grotte, Italy May 22, 1919 she came to America in 1955. She and her family settled in Franklin, where she remained until moving to Norton 10 years ago.
Mrs. Bertone was a retired homemaker who enjoyed cooking, knitting and crocheting. She was a communicant of St. Mary’s Church in Franklin and Norton, and spent many hours watching the Mass on television and saying her rosary and praying for her family and friends.
She is survived by one son, Alex Bertone and his wife Lorraine of Norton, and her grandchildren Paul Bertone and his wife Ruth of Cambridge, England, Mark Bertone of San Diego, CA, Diana Bertone of Bellingham, Peter Bertone of Raleigh, NC, John Bertone and his wife Michelle of North Attleboro, Joanna Bertone of Niantic, CT., two great grandchildren Aislyn and Sofia Bertone.
She was the mother of the late Felice Bertone and his wife Joan Bertone of Medway.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend her funeral Saturday March 14, 2009 at 9:15AM from the Charles F. Oteri and Son Franklin Funeral Home 33 Cottage St. (www.franklinfuneral.com) with a funeral Mass in St. Mary’s Church 1 church Sq. at 10AM.
Interment will follow in the family lot at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Franklin.
