TEWKSBURY - Josephine C. (Celata) Campo, 78, died peacefully Thursday afternoon, October 2, at the Lahey Clinic in Burlington with her family by her side. She was the wife of the late Anthony E. Campo, who died in 1971.
She was born in East Boston on March 19, 1930, a daughter of the late Alfonso and Esther (DeLuca) Celata, but had resided in Tewksbury since 1961.
She was a business woman who worked at John Hancock and the IRS. The majority of her career, from which she retired in 1995, was as a secretary to the Assistant Superintendent of Tewksbury Public Schools.
She was an active communicant of St. William's Parish, and in previous years worked as a CCD teacher for the church.
She was a devoted and loving mother and grandmother..
She is survived by two sons and a daughter-in-law, Antonio "Tony" Campo of Tewksbury, and Vincent Campo and his wife Sandra (Myskowski) of No. Tewksbury; three daughters and their spouses, Esther Brodeur and her husband Michael of Nashua, NH, Janice J. Campo of Chelmsford, and Rita DeAngelo and her husband John of Hudson, NH; seven grandchildren, Melissa and Kristin Brodeur, Maria, Mark, and Lauren Campo, John and Jamie DeAngelo; a brother and sister-in-law, Michael Celata and his wife Corrine (Biano) of FL and ME, a brother-in-law, Joseph Campo, three sisters-in-law, Dorothy (Campo) Czopek, Carmela Varraso and her husband Al, Anna Petrivilli and her husband Gino, and many loving nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her son-in-law Michael Gagnon, her brothers-in-law Rocco and Vincent Campo, and her sisters-in-law Irene and Lucille Campo.
Her Funeral Mass was held Wednesday, Oct. 8, in St. William's Church, Tewksbury. Burial followed at St. Mary Cemetery, No. Tewksbury. Memorials to the Tewksbury Friends of the Elderly, 175 Chandler St., Tewksbury, MA 01876 will be appreciated.
