Dorothy R. Swain, 76, of Milford, NH died Monday April 14, 2008 in the Elliot Hospital, Manchester, NH. Mrs. Swain was born in Lowell, MA on July 12, 1931 a daughter of the late, George and Beatrice (Perigny) Noval. She had resided in Milford for the past few years, formerly living in Londonderry, NH since 1965 and also Derry, NH. Mrs. Swain had been employed for 26 years as a Registered Nurse. She retired in 2002 from the Londonderry School System where she was employed as a para professional for 17 years. She was an avid ballroom dancer and enjoyed reaching out to help others.
She is survived by her two sons, Scott Swain and his wife Shelly of Strafford, NH, Robert Swain and his wife Natalia of Florida, two daughters, Laurie Nastasia and her husband Frank of Lowell, MA, Susan Cinquegrana and her husband Mark of Newtown, CT, eight grandchildren, one great-grandchild, two brothers, George Noval of Dracut, MA, and Richard Noval of Hampton, NH, also many nieces and nephews. Mrs. Swain was predeceased by her husband of 53 years, Alfred “Al” L. Swain in 2006. She was also predeceased by her infant daughter, Patricia and by her son, Kenneth Swain who died in 1978.
Following cremation, the family greeted friends on Saturday April 19th from 9 – 11am in the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 290 Mammoth Rd., Londonderry. A memorial service followed at 11:00am in the funeral home with burial in Forest Hill Cemetery, E. Derry. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Make a Wish Foundation, 814 Elm St., Suite 300, Manchester, NH 03101-2230.
