Obituary


KEITH C. RYAN, Attache for U.S. Customs in Pakistan; of Silver Spring, Maryland, formerly of Hingham, died on January 28, 2008 in Islamabad. He was 37. Mr. Ryan grew up in Hingham, graduating from Hingham High School. He earned a Bachelor's Degree in Political Science from Trinity College in Hartford, a Master's Degree in Marine Policy from the London School of Economics and a Law Degree from Boston College Law School. After graduating from Boston Law School in 1994, Mr. Ryan served as an Assistant District Attorney for the City of Boston. In 1996, he began his law enforcement career with the U.S. Government as a U.S. Border Patrol Agent, and was promoted to Special Agent in 1997. As a Special Agent with the Immigration and Naturalization Service in Los Angeles, he worked as a member of the Violent Gang Task Force, Organized Crime Strike Force and the FBI Anti-Smuggling Task Force. Special Agent Ryan's strong legal background was instrumental in pioneering the enforcement of criminal immigration statutes and he was held in high esteem by the U.S. Attorney's office of the Central District of California. Special Agent Ryan left Los Angeles for a position with Health and Human Services in 2001, where he served as a Special Agent in Boise, Idaho and Hartford, Connecticut. He then returned to ICE in 2004, where he served as a manager for developing and coordinating the policy analysis and intelligence liaison position for the National Incident Response Unit for ICE HQ. In addition, Special Agent Ryan provided support to all counter-terrorism investigations and ICE field offices that supported those counter-terrorism efforts. He was a Lieutenant with the U.S. Coast Guard Reserve and was responsible for harbor defense and port security, spending his first four years with the USCG as a Judge Advocate-Attorney. Most recently, Special Agent Ryan served as the Attache to the ICE office in Islamabad, Pakistan, where he coordinated all efforts, particularly the ICE Visa Security Program. Keith Ryan willingly served his country throughout his career and was committed to the safety of America and the American People.
He leaves his wife Kate (Moriarty) Ryan and 8 year old triplets; Conor, Jack and Amelia all of Silver Spring, MD. He is also survived by his parents, Robert P. and Elaine (Murray) Ryan and his sister, Jessica Ryan all of Hingham.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, Feb. 9th at 11:30 AM at St. Paul's Church, 147 North St., Hingham Square.
Friends may visit at the Downing Cottage Funeral Chapel, 21 Pond St., Hingham on Friday from 4-8 PM.

The interment is to be private.
