Obituary

Wendell C. Cross, 59, of Gorham, NH passed away on June 26, 2007 after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born in West Stewartstown, NH on August 16, 1947 the son of Stephen B. and Lucinda E. Cross. He was a graduate of Colebrook Academy with the class of 1965. After graduation, he worked on the family farm and then purchased the farm in 1970. In 1973, he sold the farm and went to work for Hicks Lumber for 4 years. In 1977, he purchased the Spa Restaurant in West Stewartstown, NH, which he operated until he sold it in 1987. He then started working for Berlin City Dealership, where he was employed until his death. He was well known for his work ethics and his Professional High Sales Performance. He enjoyed traveling, especially to Aruba. He also enjoyed gardening and lending a helping hand where ever needed. He was a very devoted husband, father and brother. He dearly loved his 4 grandchildren. He was a past member of the Colebrook Jaycees, the Mens Bowling League, the Knights of Columbus and was a foster parent of 10. Wendell will be remembered for his generosity and explosive personality.

He is survived by his loving wife of 38 years Susan (Inkel) Cross of Gorham, NH; 2 daughters Caroline Poulin and fiancee Brian Vallee of Berlin and son in law Bobby Poulin of Gorham, and Karen Jorgensen and her husband Eric of Randolph; 4 grandchildren Cassandra, Catie, Kyle and Molly; his mother Lucinda Cross of Colebrook; 5 brothers Richard Cross of Quechee, VT, Wilbur Cross of Colebrook, Wayne Cross and his wife Connie of Monroe, NH, Tommy Cross of West Stewartstown and Bernard Cross; 2 sisters Beverly Leclair and her husband Bryant of West Stewartstown and Linda Estabrook and her husband Ronnie of Colebrook; a sister-in-law Linda Cross of Colebrook, NH; aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and associates. He was predeceased by his father Stephen and by his brother Stephen Jr.

SERVICES: A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday morning June 29, 2007 at 11:00 AM at St. Albert’s Parish in West Stewartstown, NH. Interment will follow at St. Brendan’s Cemetery in Colebrook, NH. Relatives and friends may call at the Bryant Funeral Home, 1 Promenade St., corner of Route 16, Gorham, NH on Thursday afternoon and evening from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM.
In lieu of flowers, anyone who wishes may make a donation in Wendell’s memory to the Gorham Recreation Department, C/O Mitch Weathers, Railroad St., Gorham, NH 03581.
