Obituary

Haverhill, MA – Wilfred L. “Pete” Belanger, passed away at Boston Medical Center on February 27, 2007 following a brief illness.

Pete was born in Lawrence on September 2, 1927 son of the late Lucien and Flavie (Ouellette) Belanger and lived there most of his life until moving to Haverhill, MA in 2005.
Wilfred attended Saint Ann’s and Central Catholic High School.
For 25 years he had been employed with the Raytheon, Co. in Andover as a Machinist prior to retiring in 1992.
Mr Belanger served in the United States Navy during World War II as a radio operator on the USS Phaon, USS Hector, and the USS Sphinx and was a recipient of the World War II Victory Medal, The American Theatre Medal, and the Asiatiuc-Pacific Theatre Medal. He received his honorable discharge on July 10,1946. Pete was also past commander of the Arnold Greenwood Post # 8349 (VFW) in Methuen.
He enjoyed his family and was extremely proud of his daughters and their families. He enjoyed vacationing at the beach and the White Mountain region of New Hampshire.

A lifelong resident of Lawrence, Wilfred was the widower of Eunice (Marino) Belanger, and is survived by children: Celeste and husband Tony Bruno, Cynthia and husband Michael Bresnahan of Haverhill, and Carla & husband Michael Viviano of Middleton, MA. Six grandchildren, Christine & her husband Christopher Terroux, Carrie and her husband Daniel Rivera, Kaitlin Bresnahan, Michael and David Viviano, and Emily Bresnahan. Two greatgrandchildren Olyvia Rivera and Emma Terroux. A sister Jeannette Peters, brother-in-laws; Marist Brother Kenneth Marino, Raymond & his wife Loretta Marino, and several nieces and nephews.

Mr. Belanger was predeceased by his brother Russell Belanger.

A Funeral mass will take place on Saturday afternoon at 1 P.M. in Our Lady of Good Counsel Parish/Saint Augustines Chapel located on Ames Street in Lawrence with burial to follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery in Andover.
Friends may call on Saturday from 9:30 A.M.– 12:30 P.M. at the Kenneth H. Pollard Funeral Home, Inc. 233 Lawrence Street in Methuen.
