Obituary

Francis J. Gilmore,J., 87, of Lake Shore Drive in Johnston, died Thursday at home. He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Jewel A. (Lepere), two daughters, Karen Finucane and her husband, James P. Finucane, III of Murrysville, PA and Barbara Grafeld and her husband, Michael of Yardley, PA; three grandchildren, Deborah Renting, Michael Scully and Elizabeth Grafeld. He was the father of the late Thomas F. Gilmore.
Born in Cranston, a son of the late Luke and Mary (Campbell) Gilmore. He lived in Johnston for 54 years after having been a summer resident for 6 years. He was a bus driver for UER. He retired as a Chief Steward and machinist at General Electric, Baseworks after 32 years of service.
He traveled extensively throughout the US including visits to Alaska and the Hawaiian Islands, Mexico and Italy. He was a Boy Scout Commissioner, an avid golfer and scored a hole in one at the Country View Golf Course. He spent 12 years in Florida playing golf. He enjoyed bowling with an almost perfect score of 299. He shared his talent of woodworking with his family and friends.
His funeral will be held Monday at 8:30am from the *ANDERSON-WINFIELD Funeral Home, Route 44 at Greenville Common, Greenville. Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30am in St. Philip Church, 622 Putnam Pike, Greenville. Burial in Highland Memorial Cemetery. Visitation Monday 8-9am. Please omit flowers.
