Patricia M. (Donovan) Burns, 87, a longtime resident of Bellingham, died Saturday, April 23, 2016 at St. Patrick's Manor, Framingham. She was predeceased by her husband, William J. Burns Sr.
Patricia was born in Boston and raised in Dedham, daughter of Cornelius and Margaret (Welch) Donovan. She graduated from Dedham high school and St. Margaret's Hospital School of Nursing. She worked as a nurse for 50 years spending time in Florida and California before working at the West Roxbury VA where she met her husband. She worked as a psychiatric and drug/alcohol nurse in local hospitals and as a nurse for the Bellingham Schools. She was a member of St. Blaise Parish in Bellingham. Pat taught ceramics and enjoyed traveling, gardening and her pets.
She is survived by her siblings; Mary Sweeney wife of the late George Sweeney of Franklin, Eleanor Palma wife of the late Russell Palma of Dedham, Kathleen Feldmann and her husband Gordon of Nevada, Charles Donovan and his wife Ella Mae of Wayland, and Francis Donovan and his wife Barbara of Illinois, and sister-in-law Carol Donovan of Falmouth, MA. She was predeceased by her brother Robert Donovan, and sister Dorothy Flemming and her husband Francis. She is also survived by her step-son William J. Burns, Jr. (wife Bette deceased) and grandsons William J. Burns III and his wife Susan of Stow, MA and Stephen P. Burns and his wife Deborah of Concord, NH and her three great granddaughters Nicole and Katelyn Burns and Rayya Burns. She had many nieces and nephews and grand nieces and nephews.
A funeral mass will be celebrated on Thursday, April 28th at 9:00 AM in Saint Michael's church, 21 Manning Street, Hudson. Burial will follow in Precious Blood and St. John the Baptist Cemetery, Bellingham. Calling hours will be held on Thursday, April 28th from 7:30 to 8:45 AM at the Tighe-Hamilton Funeral Home, Inc. 50 Central Street, Hudson, MA 01749. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Saint Patrick's Manor, 863 Central Street, Framingham, MA 01701, or to a charity of your choice.
