Beloved wife and mother
TEWKSBURY: Marilyn F. (Mangano) Joy, age 52, a resident of Tewksbury for 29 years, passed away at the Brigham & Woman’s Hospital on Monday, April 18, 2016.
She was the beloved wife of Robert M. Joy, with whom she would have celebrated their 29th wedding anniversary on October 4, 2016.
Born in Cambridge on February 17, 1964, she was the daughter of the late Charles P. and Anne L. (Silipigni) Mangano.
Marilyn was raised in West Roxbury and Norwood.
She attended local schools and graduated from Norwood High School in 1982. Following high school, Marilyn attended Northeastern University, where she received her B.A. Degree and her M.B.A. Degree in 1995.
Prior to her being diagnosed with cancer, she was employed by U.S. Army Natick Soldier Systems Center (Natick Labs), where she worked as a plans analyst.
Marilyn enjoyed vacationing and spending family time with her husband and daughter. In addition, she was dedicated and committed to physical fitness. Marilyn was often seen by many on her daily five mile walks throughout Tewksbury.
Besides her husband, she is survived by one daughter, Toni J. Joy; one sister, Lorraine Hulbert and her husband Jay; one brother, Michael Mangano and his wife Karen; her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Robert and Jeanne Joy; brothers and sisters-in-law, Stephen D. Joy, Michael A. Joy and his wife Linda, Kathy L. Joy and her husband Matthew Kowalski; also many nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
Calling hours are Sunday, April 24, from 4-8 p.m. at the Farmer & Dee Funeral Home, 16 Lee St., Tewksbury. Her funeral will be held Monday, April 25, at 10 a.m. from the funeral home, followed by her Funeral Mass at 11 a.m. at St. Robert Bellarmine Church, 198 Haggetts Pond Rd., Andover. Interment at St. Mary Cemetery, Tewksbury. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, 10 Brookline Place West, 6th Floor, Brookline, MA 02445.
