Obituary

Mrs. Victoria Patricia (Fierro) Coderre, a longtime resident of Andover, passed away peacefully at her winter home in Port St. Lucie, Florida on Tuesday, April 12, 2016. She was 83 years old.

Born March 17, 1933 in Brooklyn, New York, she was the daughter of the late Nicholas M. and Helen (Pasarrella) Fierro. Mrs. Coderre attended Long Island University, Hofstra, and New York University. Before retiring, she was a travel agent, a librarian, and a preschool teacher at Saint Robert’s Country Day School. Her fun nature, gentle guidance, and easy rapport with children will be lovingly remembered by her grandchildren as well.

In her spare time, Mrs. Coderre enjoyed gardening, flower arrangement, and floral design. She was a founder (almost 50 years ago) of the Village Garden Club of Andover, and served as an officer in many capacities over the years, including several terms as president, and was co-first vice president in the current term. She often chaired the annual “Art in Bloom” programs. Mrs. Coderre was also a dedicated advocate for seniors, devoting her time to The Center at Punchard (the Andover Senior Center), spearheading the establishment of a large garden for seniors, coordinating trips, and singing in the “The Sunrise Singers” choir. She was a big Patriots and Red Sox fan, and loved flea marketing. She will be dearly missed by many.

Victoria was the loving mother of William Henry (Jennifer) Coderre of San Jose, California; and Aline Victoria (Stephen) Ubbink of Clifton Springs, New York. She is also survived by her dear brother, Nicholas “Bud” (Kay) Fierro; grandchildren, Emma Jane Ubbink and Joseph Charles Coderre; and niece, Kristine Fierro-Sherman. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, William Joseph Coderre.

Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated in St. Augustine Church, 43 Essex Street, Andover on Friday, April 22, 2016, at 10 AM. Relatives and friends are most welcome to attend. Calling hours will be held in the Burke-Magliozzi Funeral Home, 390 North Main Street, Andover on Thursday, April 21, 2016, from 3 to 7 PM. Interment will be held in Spring Grove Cemetery in Andover.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to The Center at Punchard (Andover Senior Center) and The Village Garden Club, both in Andover, MA.
