Doris M. (Demers) Bedard, 86, of Peabody, passed away Wednesday, April 6, 2016 at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers, following a brief illness. She was the devoted wife of the late Raymond H. Bedard with whom she had shared 60 years of marriage.

Born and raised in Salem, she was the daughter of the late Louis J. and Florinda M. (Dubois) Demers. A graduate of St. Joseph Academy, over the years, Doris has worked for several former Salem companies, including Parker Brothers, Reid & Hughes and Daniel Low’s. She later worked for and retired from J. C. Penny’s at the north shore mall.

Doris devoted her life to her family. She was caregiver to her disabled husband for years and loved any time spent with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was an avid Red Sox fan, and enjoyed working for and playing Bingo. She will be dearly missed.

She is survived by her daughter, Suzanne M. Cody and her husband Walter L. of Beverly, her son, Kenneth R. Bedard of Salem, three grandchildren, Kerrie L. Jackson and her husband Chris of Lexington, Stephanie R. Lausier and her husband Jeff of Salem, and Karyn L. Bedard of Salem. She also leaves her five great-grandchildren, Connor & Keira, Camryn, Olivia and Hannah. She was predeceased by her sister, Connie Russell

Relatives and friends are invited to her visiting hours on Sunday, April 10, 2016 from 2:00 to 6:00 P.M. at the Levesque Funeral Home, 163 Lafayette St. [Route 114 / 1-A] Salem. Her funeral service will be held in the funeral home on Monday at 10:00 A.M. to be followed by her burial in Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, Peabody.
