BRIDGEWATER - Edward Lopes, Sr., passed away on Tuesday, April 5, 2016, at the age of 77, surrounded by his family.
He was the beloved husband of Carol A. (Travers) Lopes.
Edward was born in Taunton, son of the late August A. and Irene (Gray) Lopes.
Before retirement, Mr. Lopes with his family owned and operated Lopes Bus Lines and Lakeside Garage for over 30 years.
Edward also worked at Shaw’s Boat Yard as a marine mechanic.
Mr. Lopes loved the ocean and was an avid boater.
He was a member of the Taunton River Power Squadron.
Most of all Edward was a loving and caring person who was devoted to his family.
Besides his loving wife Carol of over 55 years, Edward is survived by his children, Edward A. Lopes, Jr. of Bridgewater, Terri DeMello and husband Steve of Raynham and Laurie Rodier and husband Keith of Norton; his grandchildren, Julianne, Jaclyn, Derek and Samantha; and a sister, Irene Silva of Stuart, FL.
He was also the brother of the late James Lopes.
Funeral Services will be held at the Silva Funeral Home, 80 Broadway, Taunton on Sunday, April 10th at 5 p.m.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
The family will be receiving visitors from 2 to 5 p.m. prior to the services.
Interment will be held privately.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts in Edward’s memory may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
