Obituary

Mrs. Marjorie M. (MacMillan) Bennett, a lifelong resident of Medford and beloved wife of the late Gordon Bennett, passed away at the Aberjona Nursing Center in Winchester on Monday morning, April 4, 2016. She was 96 years old.

Born in Medford, Massachusetts, on February 18, 1920, she was the beloved daughter of the late Allan and A. Mildred (Potter) MacMillan. Mrs. Bennett was a graduate of Medford High School and had attended the Fay Secretarial School. She had been employed as a Secretary for Medford High School for many years. In her spare time, Marjorie enjoyed traveling with her beloved husband, knitting, sewing and crocheting. She also loved to play the piano. Marjorie was a member of the Medford Woman’s Club and always loved a good conversation. She was also a longtime member of Grace Chapel in Lexington. She will be dearly missed.

She is survived by her loving children; Barbara J. Babbitt of Melrose, Gordon and his wife Laurie A. Bennett of Derry, New Hampshire and James A. and his wife Christine M. Bennett of Medford, siblings; Barbara Stewart, Donald MacMillan, Janet Neal and Roberta Robinson, grandchildren; Mary Elizabeth, David Gordon, Mark Edward, Steven Gordon, Catherine Marie, Mary-Elizabeth, James Robert, Charles Gordon and Lauren Alexandra, great-grandchildren; Brady, McKenna, Ashley, Isabella, Steven, Shaun, Wendy and Lorraine. She was also the grandmother of the late Robert P. Babbitt and sister of the late Edith Wilson, Eleanor Fay, Allan MacMillan Jr., and Elizabeth McLatchy.

Her Funeral Service will be celebrated in the Grace Chapel, 59 Worthen Road, Lexington on Friday, April 8, 2016, at 10 AM. Relatives and friends are most welcome to attend. Visiting hours will be held in the Beals-Geake-Magliozzi Funeral Home, 29 Governors Avenue, Medford on Thursday, April 7, 2016, from 4 to 8 PM.
