Linda (Hering) Digney, 71 of Methuen passed away at the Merrimack Valley Hospice House, Haverhill, MA on Friday, March 25th after a long courageous battle with cancer surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Lawrence MA, she was the daughter of the late Florence and William Hering. Linda grew up in Lawrence and for the past 50 years has resided in Methuen. She was a graduate of St. Mary’s High School. She went on to earn her Bachelor’s degree in Education from Lowell State College, a Master’s degree in Guidance and Counseling from Salem State College, and another Master’s degree in Special Education from Lesley College. During her career, Linda was employed by the Haverhill Public School system, the North Andover Public School system, and after ten years as a stay at home mom, she joined the staff of the Derry Cooperative School District as Assistant Director of Student Services, the position from which she retired.
Linda was a regular communicant at St. Francis of Assisi Church in Dracut, MA. She enjoyed gardening, reading, and her home on the lake.
She leaves her loving son John Digney, who provided support and care throughout her illness. She leaves loving cousins Marie Kelley, Devan Gould, Lauren Kelley, Bro. Frederick Mueller FSC, Christine Morse, and Rosemarie Lee. She was the widow of the late John J. Digney.
Calling hours are Wednesday, March 30th from 4-8 PM at the Kenneth H. Pollard Funeral Home, 233 Lawrence St, Methuen, MA.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated Thursday, March 31st at 9 AM at St Francis of Assisi Church, 110 Wheeler Ave, Dracut, MA. Burial will be private.
