Obituary

Jennie Theresa (Zona) DeBenedictis, a resident of Medford and beloved wife of the late Louis DeBenedictis, passed away at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers on Thursday night, February 18, 2016. She was 96 years old.

Born in Boston, Massachusetts, on October 15, 1919, she was the beloved daughter of the late Philip and Angelina (Arini) Zona. Mrs. DeBenedictis was a communicant of St. Francis Church in Medford. She enjoyed cooking and spending time with her large family. She will be dearly missed.

Jennie was the loving mother of Marie DeBenedictis of Tacoma, Washington, Anne DeBenedictis and her husband Daniel Camino of Woburn, Louise DeBenedictis of Concord, Vincent and his wife Joan DeBenedictis of Wakefield, Jean DeBenedictis and her spouse Gail Schoenbrunn of Newton. Philip and his wife Yvonne DeBenedictis of Weymouth, John and his wife Carol DeBenedictis of Plymouth and Angela DeBenedictis Chang and her husband Joseph Chang of Reading.

Beloved grandmother of Paul DeBenedictis and his wife Stephanie Marcucci of Reading, Michael DeBenedictis and his wife Crista of Natick, David Gallagher and his wife Emma Viscidi of Boxborough, Stephen DeBenedictis of Somerville, Daniel Camino of Manchester NH, Andrew DeBenedictis of Somerville, Gregory Chang of Medford, Lisa DeBenedictis of Boston, Joseph DeBenedictis of Dorchester, Elizabeth Chang of Reading, Julia DeBenedictis of Pembroke, Lily DeBenedictis of Newton and one step-grandson, Ryan Pelletier of Plymouth. Jennie also leaves 7 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was also the sister of the late Frank Zona, Concetta Faldetta and Sr. Mary Francita Zona, mfic.

Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated in St. Francis of Assisi Church, Fellsway West, Medford on Wednesday, February 24, 2016, at 10:00 am. Visiting hours will be held in the Beals Geake-Magliozzi Funeral Home, 29 Governors Avenue, Medford on Tuesday, February 23, 2016, from 4 to 8 PM. Interment will be held in the Oak Grove Cemetery in Medford. In lieu of flowers, donations in Jennie’s name may be made to Care Dimensions, Kaplan Family Hospice House, 78 Liberty St, Danvers, MA 01923.
