Joseph Gregory Vachowski, 40 years old, left this world for the next on Feb. 10, 2016. He was the son of Gregory and Theresa (Filz) Vachowski of Hudson.
Joe attended Hudson schools and graduated from UMASS Amherst. He was employed in retail and computer support. Joe’s passions included backpacking, cooking, collecting locks, the Boston Red Sox, playing secret Santa on Christmas Eve, solitude and books, always books. He was an expert at making others feel important in a conversation, and bringing fun to any gathering.
Besides his parents, Joe leaves his sister, Carla Vachowski of Haverhill; his sister Amy Vachowski-Herlihy and brother-in-law Shawn Herlihy of Middleboro; his brother, James Vachowski and sister-in-law Tracey Vachowski of Wellington, New Zealand as well as nieces Meaghan, Emily and Charlotte and nephew Benjamin.
Family and friends may attend a calling hour at the Tighe-Hamilton Funeral Home, Inc., 50 Central Street, Hudson, MA on Saturday, Feb. 20th from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. followed by a memorial service and celebration of Joseph’s life at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home. Burial services will be held at a later date in Forestvale Cemetery, Hudson.
In recent years, Joe had asked that instead of gifts, donations should be sent to Worcester County Food Bank, 474 Boston Turnpike, Shrewsbury, MA 01545 and Worcester Animal Rescue League, 139 Holden Street, Worcester, MA 01606. His family requests the same to honor Joe’s memory in lieu of flowers.
