Aline R. (Bessette) Santos, 85, of New Bedford died Thursday February 11, 2016 at Southpointe Rehabilitation Center. She was the wife of the late Edmund Santos.
Born in Fairhaven, the daughter of the late Joseph Gregoire Bessette and Marie Angelina (Brun) Bessette, she was raised in Westport and lived in New Bedford for most of her life. She was a graduate of Westport High School.
She was a communicant of St. Lawrence Church.
Mrs. Santos was employed for many years as a waitress at various restaurants in the Greater New Bedford area. She later worked as a home health aide.
She enjoyed playing cards and going out with her friends.
Survivors include three children, James E. Santos and his wife Carol of Tallahassee, FL, Janice E. Dean and her husband Brian, and Richard Santos, all of New Bedford; a brother, Roger Bessette of Berkley; a sister, Noella Fredericks of Fall River; six grandchildren, Jason Santos, Matthew Santos, Kimberly Blanchette, Tara Santos, Rebecca Pacheco, and Mark Dean; a great-grandson, Dante Pacheco; and many nieces and nephews.
She was the sister of the late Lillian Clement and Normand Bessette.
Her Funeral will be held on Wednesday at 9 AM from the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford, followed by her Funeral Mass at St. Lawrence Church at 10 AM.
