Obituary

Mr. Robert M. “Bob” Drennan, a longtime resident of Medford, passed away Sunday morning, January 31, 2016. He was 92 years old.
Born in Washington, DC, on January 17, 1924, he was the beloved son of the late Richard P. and Margaret G. (Murray) Drennan.
Bob graduated from Medford High School and from Harvard University, where he received his BS in Physics and Applied Sciences and later an MS in Mechanical Engineering. Mr. Drennan solidly contributed to the MHS and Harvard football fortunes as a lineman. For many years he was a benefactor to his college alma mater. While living in Medford during the 1950’s, he served on its City Council and also acted as Deputy Mayor.
Mr. Drennan was once a resident of Rosemont, Pennsylvania, for 10 years. Later, he co-founded The Industrial and Commercial Appraisal Company with his late brother, R. Peter Drennan, in 1973. Their firm specialized in appraising industrial and commercial real estate, valuation of machinery/equipment and business valuations. The brothers maintained offices in Massachusetts and Connecticut. Clients in many states and overseas relied on their firm’s appraisal expertise.
Mr. Drennan, a WWII veteran, received two battle stars in Europe during that conflict. He belonged to the 10th Mountain Division Veterans Association and was a member of the Harvard Clubs of Boston and Philadelphia. In the year 2000, Mr. Drennan was honored by the French General Consul with a Certificate of Appreciation for his WWII services. Robert spoke fluent German and was among the American troops that liberated  and debriefed the prisoners at the Buchenwald Concentration Camp.
Mr. Drennan was pre-deceased by his brothers; Atty. F. Richard Drennan, R. Peter Drennan and his wife Ann, Fr. Lawrence J. Drennan and his loving and generous sister; Margaret Mary Drennan.
Bob is survived by his faithful sister; Ann B. (Drennan) Forsyth and her husband Donald of Germantown, Tennessee, twelve nieces and nephews and many relatives and friends.
His Funeral Mass will be celebrated in St. Joseph Church, 118 High Street, Medford, on Monday, February 15, 2016, at 11:30 AM. Relatives and friends are most welcome to attend. Visiting hours will be held in the Beals-Geake-Magliozzi Funeral Home, 29 Governors Avenue, Medford on Sunday, February 14, 2016, from 4 to 7 PM.
