He graduated from Winchester high school in 1973, from East Coast Aero Tech with an airframe and powerplant license in 1982, and just graduated from the Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University with a Bachelor of Science degree in unmanned aircraft design.

Scott was a man of many talents; an accomplished mechanic that could (and did) fix anything with a motor from cars, to boats to airplanes, a talented carpenter that built two beautiful homes for his family in Dunbarton, NH, and an avid learner that believed it was never too late to try something new – Scott spent the his last years in Florida restoring boats while attending the unmanned aircraft design program at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in Daytona, Florida.

Scott was a licensed pilot and flight instructor and was recognized by the Federal Aviation Administration (2013) with inclusion in the prestigious FAA Airmen Certification Database. The database, which appears on the agency's website at www.faa.gov, names Harrington and other certified pilots who have met or exceeded the high educational, licensing and medical standards established by the FAA.
