Obituary

Serafina “Sally” (Giannetti) Pini, age 90, a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother passed away at Beaumont Rehabilitation and Skilled Nursing Center in Natick on Tuesday, February 9, 2016. She was the devoted wife of the late John Pini.

Born, raised and educated in Natick, she was a daughter of the late Michele (Mike) and Anna (Vitale) Giannetti. Sally was employed with Filene’s in Wellesley for many years. She and John married in 1950 and settled in Wellesley in 1956 to raise their family.

Sally was a wonderful homemaker for John and their three boys. She was an avid cook best known for her Italian meatballs, saugages and sauce. Family and friends were always welcome to sitdown and eat her great cooking. The Pini family were longtime parishioners of Saint James the Great Church in Wellesley and active members of the Italian-American Club of Wellesley. While she may have enjoyed playing bingo or a trip to Atlantic City with her sister and friends, Sally’s happiest times came in the company of her ever-growing family. During the last fifteen years, while residing at Whitney Place and Beaumont she enjoyed playing bingo with the other residents and staff and became known as the “Mayor of Whitney Place”.

Predeceased by John in 1983, she is survived by their sons, Jack and his wife Barbara of Hopkinton, Bob and his wife Lisa of Natick, and Rick and his wife Hillary of Wellesley; eleven grandchildren; Kristin Lomuto, Jacqueline Trotta, Steven Pini, Ashley Pini, Jeffrey Pini, Matthew Pini, Meghan Pini, Robby Pini , Andrew Pini, Brian Pini, and Abby Pini, four great-grandchildren; Gabriella, Rocco, Nicolas, and Delaney, and her sister, Angie Giannetti of Natick. She was also the sister of the late Michael (Junie) Giannetti and Patricia Zanchi.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend her Funeral from the John Everett and Sons Funeral Home, 4 Park Street, at Natick Common on Saturday, February 13 at 9:00 A.M. with a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Patrick Church, 44 E. Central Street, Natick at 10:00 A.M. Interment will follow in St Mary’s Cemetery, Needham.
