Charleston, SC – Mrs. Mary Obeadie Stewart Benton, 97, beloved wife of the late William H. Benton, passed away on Sunday, February 7, 2016 in Charleston, SC.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, February 12, 2016 at Platt’s Crawford Avenue Chapel with Dr. Brad Whitt officiating. Interment to follow in Westover Memorial Park.
Mrs. Benton worked as a registered nurse. She retired from University Hospital after more than 44 years in the nursing profession. Mrs. Benton will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and mother to all that crossed her path.
Mrs. Benton is survived by her two sons, Art Benton of Charleston, SC, and Wayman Benton of Savannah, GA. She was preceded in death by her two sisters, Jeannette Clifton and Mona Masterson; and by her four brothers, Harold Stewart, Albea Stewart, James Stewart, and Dudley Stewart.
Pallbearers will be Thomas Hooper, Doyle Stewart, James Benton, Justin Clifton, and Joshua Clifton.
