Obituary

Tommy Lee Stone, 65, of Tifton passed away Monday, February 8, 2016, in Berrien County. His funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, February 11, 2016, at Vanceville Congregational Christian Church with Rev. Brantley Seymour and Rev. Steve Hand officiating. Mr. Stone will be laid to rest at Lawrence Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday, February 10, 2016, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.

Billy Wayne Mobley, Phil McMillan, Johnny Dunn, Terry Nichols, David Medina, Jamie Cater, Randy Blalock and Don Copeland will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Joe Fletcher, Knocker Gibbs, Darryl Harper, Todd Applewhite and Gary Walker, James Hester, Coy Tawzer, Benny Goddard, Jason Connell, Grady Thompson, Phillip Grimes, Joey Hall, Doc Sumner, Sam Sims, Randy Hand, Terrell Roberson and Sid Roberson and Mr. Stone’s grandkids.

Born December 25, 1950 in Tift County, Mr. Stone was the son of the late Samuel L. Stone and Edna Tucker Stone. He was a farmer and owner and operator of Southland Grain. He was a member of the Board of Directors and Secretary/Treasurer of the Tift County Georgia Farm Bureau. He was a member of Vanceville Congregational Christian Church, where he served as a deacon and song leader. He was a founding member of the Stone Creek Band. He also served in the National Guard. He was a great family man and loved holidays when all the family was together.

Mr. Stone is survived by his wife, Sandra Browning Stone of Tifton; two sons and daughters-in-law, Shane and Justine Stone and Zach and Sarah Stone, all of Tifton; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Hope and Wycliffe Vance and Brittany Anna Stone, all of Tifton and Ashly and Boone Webster of Albany; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Barbara and Wayne Driskell and Loretta Faye Hickman, all of Tifton; ten grandchildren, Steven Connell and wife Audrey, Tommy Ross Vance, Jacob Stone, Nathan Stone, Sam Vance, Wyc Vance, Casen Stone, Sutton Webster, Ali Stone and Lana Stone; and his dog, Olivia.
