Martha K. (Anderson) Beaumier
2/5/2016

WEST SPRINGFIELD – Martha K. Beaumier, 97, of West Springfield died peacefully on February 5, 2016 surrounded by her family. Martha was born July 8, 1918 in Worcester to Karin Emilia and Rikard Julius Carlsson. Karin’s sister and her husband, Esther and Peter Anderson adopted Martha as their own when Karin died in August 1918. The family moved to the shores of Lake Quinsigamond in Shrewsbury in 1928. Martha worked in her mother’s Swedish bakery/restaurant while attending nursing school. She was adventurous and traveled across the country in her twenties working as a RN in Boston, Miami, and San Francisco. Martha remained a world traveler throughout her life and particularly enjoyed her visits to Italy and Egypt. She documented her journeys so others could share her enthusiasm for adventure. Yet Martha’s fondest memories were of her husband and four children at their summer home on Little Alum Lake in Brimfield. She was an avid bridge competitor, an armchair political analyst, and a longtime Red Sox fan. Martha was predeceased by her husband of 41 years, Edward Beaumier who passed away on December 18, 1989. She is survived by her sons, Albert and his wife Donna, Douglas, Michael and daughter Wendy Abrahamson. She also leaves nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Martha’s wish was for her service to be private. The family thanks the staff at Rockridge in Northampton, and Linda Manor in Leeds for their loving and respectful care.
