Obituary

Sally Ammons Lyle, 92, of Tifton passed away Sunday, February 7, 2016, at Southern Care Assisted Living in Tifton. Her funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 9, 2016, at Riverview Memorial Chapel in Valdosta with Rev. Joseph L. Crumley officiating. She will be entombed with her husband at Riverview Memorial Gardens in Valdosta. The family will receive friends Tuesday, February 9, 2016, from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. at Riverview Memorial Chapel in Valdosta.

Born September 11, 1923 in Henry County, Alabama, Mrs. Lyle was the daughter of the late William O. Ammons and Clifford Willis Ammons. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Herman Oscar Lyle, who passed away in 2013; and a sister, Janice Cutchen. She was a homemaker and member of New River Baptist Church. She served in the WACS in the United States Army during World War II.

Mrs. Lyle is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Dr. Herman O. Lyle, Jr. and wife Valerie of Marion, Illinois and James C. Lyle and wife Beverly of Mandeville, Louisiana; two daughters and sons-in-law, Carol Lyle Keeley and husband James of Jacksonville, Florida and Jan and Bobby Stinson of Tifton; nine grandchildren, Chad (Courtney) Lyle, Galen Lyle, Peter (Lisa) Lyle, Scott (Sherry) Lyle, Megan Lyle, Laura (Jamie) Johnstone, Caitlin Keeley, Bobby (Lauren) Stinson and Andrew (Kristen) Stinson; and eight great-grandchildren.
