Obituary

BANGOR – Arthur M. Potter, 87, died Tuesday, February 2, 2016, at Orono Commons in Orono, Maine. He was born on May 18, 1928, in Milan, New Hampshire, a son of the late R. Wilbur and Margaret (Goehler) Potter.

Arthur enlisted with the US Army in 1945 and served in World War II and the Korean War. He went to the University of New Hampshire in Durham, New Hampshire and graduated in 1951 with a degree in Agriculture. He then enlisted in The Air Force in 1955, and he served at Fort Sam Houston in San Antonio, Texas and Loring Air Force Base in Limestone, Maine. Then he worked for the USDA as an Agricultural Inspector for 36 years in New Jersey, Texas, South Carolina, and Bangor, Maine.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Patricia A. Potter of Bangor, Maine, his son, Gregory A. Potter of Wyckoff, New Jersey, and his daughter, Roxanne C. Meek of Kenduskeag, Maine.

He was a member of the Free Masons of Eagle Pass, Texas, the Audubon Society, Nature Club, and the Senior Center in Bangor. His hobbies included gardening, traveling, nature walks, bird watching, trains, and going to bean suppers.

Graveside Services will be held on Saturday May 28, 2016 at 1 PM at the Hillcrest Cemetery in Milan, New Hampshire. Arrangements have been made by Bryant Funeral Home in Berlin, New Hampshire. Donations in Arthur’s name may be made to: The Audubon Society, 216 Fields Pond Rd, Holden, ME 04429.
