Antonietta N. (Civitareale) Diggs, a Medford resident of thirty-four years, passed away peacefully on Friday, February 5, 2016, at the Medford Rehab & Nursing in Medford. She was 49.

Born in Prezza, L’aqulia Italy, she was the daughter of Nunzio and Gemma (Rosatone) Civitareale of Medford. Antonietta and her family came to the United States when she was four years old. She was raised in Medford and graduated from Medford High School, class of 1984.

A homemaker, family was important to her. She loved each of her family members as the individuals that they are. Love and devotion was the corner stone of her home. Antonietta had a sarcastic sense of humor that her family and friends enjoyed. She loved to be in the presence of others. Antonietta often enjoyed drinking decaffeinated coffee and speaking with people, as she loved to talk. A lover of animals, she was preceded in death by her cats Sebastion and ChiChi as well as her dog Chantel. In Antonietta’s spare time, she enjoyed listening to Rock N’ Roll music, specifically the band Fleetwood Mac and drawing. She was an excellent artist that drew all forms of life. There wasn’t anything Antonietta couldn’t do with a pencil and sheet of paper. She was also an avid collector of clown figurines and enjoyed watching hockey. Halloween was her favorite time of year. She always dressed as a wicked witch and decorated the house for the occasion. Antonietta lived her life well with positivity and spirit.

Antonietta was the devoted mother of James R. Diggs of Medford. She was the loving grandmother of Gemma Nicole Diggs of Woburn and the dear sister of Nick Civitareale and his wife Ann of Medford. She is also survived by her former husband James V. Diggs Jr. of Malden, as well as many loving aunts, uncles, cousins, and nephews.

Funeral from the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main Street, Medford, on Tuesday, February 9th at 9 AM followed by a Funeral Mass celebrated in St. Joseph Church, 118 High Street, Medford, at 10 AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours will be held on Monday from 4 through 8 PM. Interment will be held at a later date.
