Josephine Ann (DeLuca) Chancholo, 90

CHANCHOLO, Josephine “Jo” Ann, nee DeLuca, of Medford, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on February 4, 2016. Loving and cherished wife of Salvatore “Chick” Chancholo for 67 years. Beloved daughter of the late Joseph and Catherine (DeLeo) DeLuca. Dear sister of the late Concetta Sturniolo and Nicholas DeLuca. Devoted mother of John Chancholo of Lexington and Paula Anson and her husband Greg of Scarborough, ME. Treasured grandmother of Melissa and Erik Anson, also of Scarborough, ME. Special aunt of Marie Reilly of Dennis; Lou Sturniolo of Lincoln Park, NJ; and Karen Sturniolo of Medford.

Jo loved her home and took pride in keeping it meticulous, inside and out. She was a lover of the outdoors, spending much time gardening and walking throughout the neighborhood. Jo was a talented cook with a knack for baking. She kept an active social schedule and had a wide circle of friends. A natural hostess, she was most delighted when entertaining her family and friends with a large meal, and she would never allow one to leave without dessert.

Jo was very artistic and creative. She was constantly crafting something, from themed table settings to Christmas decorations. Jo especially enjoyed drawing and took several art classes as an adult. She loved travelling and enjoyed trips throughout the US, including two to Hawaii.

Jo was known as a caring woman who adored her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed travelling to Maine to visit her daughter Paula’s family.

She was an active parishioner and communicant of St. Raphael Church in Medford.

Jo was known for having a cheerful mood, and it comforted and inspired her family to see her maintain good spirits until the end.

At the family’s request, all services will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent in Josephine’s name to Massachusetts General Hospital, Alzheimer's Disease Research Center, 100 Cambridge St., Suite 1300, Boston, MA 02114.
