Obituary

LACONIA - Dora “Jean” (Brown) Bullerwell, 77, of Laconia died Tuesday, February 2, 2016 at home with her family at her side. She was born September 22, 1938 in Dexter, Maine to Eva M. (Shannon) and Charles U. Brown and grew up in the Portland area. She was a resident of the Lakes Region for 39 years.
Jean met her husband, Thomas David “Dave” Bullerwell while modeling for stores in Portland, Maine. They were married on March 13, 1957. After they were married, Jean followed Dave throughout his military career which led them to Alaska and Iceland, settling in Maynard Massachusetts where they both worked for Digital Equipment Corporation. She later drove school bus. After moving to Gilford in 1976, Jean began work at Laconia People’s National Bank, and later at Lakes Region Jewelers and String ‘Em Up Bead Shop.
Jean inherited her green thumb from her father; she enjoyed gardening and was always busy with many crafts, large and small including ceramics, knitting and quilts. She dabbled in upholstery and became an accomplished beader. Her family fought over her sugar cookies, whoopie pies and peanut butter fudge at the holidays. In her spare time she played some golf.
Jean is survived by her husband of 59 years and their sons and daughter and their spouses: Bruce and Sharon Bullerwell of Tilton, Randy and Sue Bullerwell of Laconia and Kelly and Timothy Dinan of Belmont, their grand children and spouses, David and Julie Bullerwell, Ben and Amanda Bullerwell, Stefanie Bullerwell, Charlie and Crystal Bullerwell and Brittni Dinan, their great grand children: MacKenzie, Jackie, Carter, Desmond, Kendall, Brooke and Evelyn her brother, Michael (Joanne) Brown of Maine, nieces and nephews and her Cory cat. Jean was proud that her first great grandchild, MacKenzie was born on her 25th birthday(!)
Jean was predeceased by her parents, brother, Bruce Brown and sister, Lois Palmer.
There are no calling hours.
A committal service will be held at 9AM on Monday, February 8, 2016 in the chapel of the New Hampshire State Veteran’s Cemetery, 110 Daniel Webster Highway, Boscawen.
A celebration of life will be held from 4 – 6pm also on Monday, February 8, 2016 at the Community Center at Briarcrest Estates, 100 Diamond Place, Laconia.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to New Hampshire Humane Society, PO Box 572, Laconia, NH 03247 or Central NH VNA and Hospice, 780 North Main Street, Laconia, NH 03246.
