WORCESTER-Leocadia T. “Lorraine” (Markiewicz) Gancarz, 85, died Tuesday, February 2, 2016 at the Golden Living Center.
She is survived by her husband of 66 years, Boleslaw J. “Bill” Gancarz; two sons, Michael Gancarz and his wife Deborah of S. Grafton and Robert J. Gancarz and his wife Nancy of Bedford, NH; five grandchildren, David, Jennifer, Ryan, Jeffrey and Lauren; and two sisters, Phyllis Wielgoreski and Dorothy Friedgen, both of N. Grafton. Lorraine was predeceased by two brothers, Richard and Ronald Markiewicz and a sister, Regina Dirsa.
She was born and raised in Worcester, daughter of Joseph and Stella (Kulesza) Markiewicz. Lorraine worked for Stop and Shop Grocery for nearly 30 years before retiring. She enjoyed polka music and after retirement, she and Bill enjoyed traveling up and down the east coast together. Lorraine's family would like to thank the staff at the Golden Living Center and the VNA Care Hospice for the wonderful care they provided.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, February 8th at LINDQUIST LUNDIN Funeral Home, 36 Butler Street, Worcester. Burial will follow at Notre Dame Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in Lorraine’s memory may be made to VNA Care Hospice, 120 Thomas Street, Worcester, MA 01608.
