RAYNHAM – William J. Smith, husband of the late Edith (Corey) Smith, died at the Life Care Center of Raynham on Jan. 29, 2016.
He was 93.
Born in Berkley, he was the son of the late Joseph and Alfrenda (DaRosa) Smith.
Bill attended Taunton schools and later served in the US Army during WWII.
Employed by Taunton’s former Reed & Barton Silversmiths as a polisher for over thirty-five years, he retired in 1987.
He had been a resident of Raynham since 2003 and was a communicant of Holy Family Church in East Taunton.
Survivors include three brothers, Joseph and Robert Smith, both of Florida and Francis Smith and his wife Dorothy of East Taunton; three sisters, Rosalie Vowles of Lunenburg, MA, Mary Costa and her husband John of Taunton and Ruth Coute of Taunton; and many nieces and nephews.
He was also the brother of the late Clara Lawrence and Theresa Ferris.
In accordance with Bill’s wishes, his funeral will be private at the convenience of the family.
Calling Hours are respectfully omitted.
Burial will be held at St. Joseph Cemetery.
Arrangements are by the Silva Funeral Home, 80 Broadway, Taunton.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
