Bettye DeFore Morgan, 82, of Fitzgerald, died Saturday, January 30, 2016, at her residence.
Private memorial services will be held at a later date.
Mrs. Morgan was born May 29, 1933, in Fitzgerald, Georgia, to the late Walter C. & Hazel Jolley DeFore. She was a graduate of Fitzgerald High School. Mrs. Morgan served her country honorably in the United States Air Force. She was a nurse at Ben Hill County Hospital and later worked for AVCO Financial Services, climbing the ladder from secretary to office manager. She loved to bake and enjoyed working in her yard. Mrs. Morgan was a member of Northside Baptist Church.
She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law: Steven & Gennie Rathbun of Perkins, David & Sharon McMillan of Fitzgerald, and Butch & Debra Rathbun of Fitzgerald; grandchildren: Amber Rathbun, Stephanie Rathbun, Joseph Rathbun, Courtney Rathbun, Corey Rathbun, David D. McMillan, Jason Grubbs, Justin Grubbs, Ryan Lindsey, and Tommy Hobbs; great-grandchildren: Keegan Rathbun, Gabe Grubbs, Brody Grubbs, Gavin Lindsey, Kendall Lindsey, and Aidan Hobbs; and a sister, Hattie Pearl Magwood. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Harrison Morgan; two brothers; and one sister.
