Obituary

Marion S. St. Cyr, born August 27, 1922 in Lowell, MA, adopted daughter of the late Frederick J. and Anna (Sullivan) Lister, passed away on Friday, January 29, 2016 at the Methuen Health and Rehabilitation Center in Methuen, MA. Marion was formally a long time resident of Andover, MA.

Marion was the widow of Augustine St. Cyr who died in 1991. They raised three sons in the Greater Lawrence area and Hampton, NH. In 1966, her son, LC James A. St. Cyr was the first Greater Lawrence serviceman killed in action in Vietnam. Marion, as the area’s first Gold Star Mother attended the Vietnam Memorial ceremony on Worcester, MA and the Vietnam Memorial ceremony in North Andover, MA.

Marion was active well into her nineties. She lived alone and took the bus daily to North Andover to have breakfast at Brigham’s. She made friends wherever she went.

Marion is survived by her sons, Eugene and his wife Carole of Texas and John and his wife Joan of Portland, Maine. She is also survived by her former daughter-in-law Nancy of Salem, NH. Marion leaves her close friends Liz Grady and Joan Logan. She is also survived by 7 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.

The family would like to thank the staff of the Methuen Health and Rehabilitation Center for their wonderful care and compassion for Marion.
