Obituary

WEBSTER – Valentin Sanchez, 68, died Wednesday, January 27, 2016 in Massachusetts General Hospital, Boston, after being stricken ill at home.
He leaves his companion and wife of 27 years, Elizabeth M. (Bottis) Sanchez; 3 sons, Jacob P. Luckhart and his wife Danielle of Old Bridge, NJ, Valentin “Pete” Sanchez of Southbridge, and Pio Charles Sanchez of Worcester; 2 daughters, Alice Harmon and Valerie Collins, both of Dover, DE: a stepson, Joseph Nicholas Bottis of Webster; a sister, Gloria Sanchez Diaz of Puerto Rico; 10 grandchildren; many nephews and nieces; and his former companion and the mother of 4 of his children, Irene St. George of Pennsylvania. He was preceded in death by a son, Gregory St. George, and by a brother Miguel. He also leaves behind his cats Stephano and Gary.
He was born and raised in Puerto Rico, a son of Pio and Elena (Diaz) Sanchez and lived in New Jersey for several years before moving to Webster over 25 years ago. He was a high school graduate and completed courses in English as a Second Language.
Mr. Sanchez was a laborer when he lived in Puerto Rico. He was then an inspector at Gentex Optics in Dudley for 10 years.
He had been a member of the former First Assembly of God Church and also of the Potter’s House on High Street. Recently, he had been attending services at Life Church. He enjoyed watching Spanish television shows and playing solitaire. He was an excellent cook.
A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, February 3, at 11:00 AM in Mount Zion Cemetery, Worcester Road. A memorial service will be held at Life Church, corner of Lincoln & Nelson Streets, at 6:00 PM on Tuesday, February 2, with Pastor Shannon Canoy officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Scanlon Funeral Service, 38 East Main Street.
