Joseph P. Maguire

Joseph P. Maguire, a Wilmington resident for fifty years passed away peacefully early Friday morning, January 29, 2016, at the Woodbriar Health Center in Wilmington following a lengthy period of declining health. He was 92 years of age. Joe was the beloved husband of Barbara A. (Hogan) and together they shared fifty wonderful years of marriage.

Joe was raised and educated in South Boston and attended Boston schools. He received his Associates Degree in business administration and accounting from Bentley College. He worked for thirty years as an accountant for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Department of Public Woks prior to his retirement. He was a past member of both the Wakefield Elks and the Knights of Columbus of Wilmington. Together with his beloved wife, Barbara, they enjoyed dancing, traveling and especially enjoyed many memorable cruise vacations. In his leisure time, Joe also enjoyed golfing, bowling and was an avid reader.

Joe was one of six children of the late Andrew J. and Lena (Medeiros) Maguire. He was the brother of Eddie Maguire of Alton Bay, NH, the late Marilyn Brennon, Andy, Bob and Frank Maguire. He is further survived by many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

Funeral services will be held from the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 374 Main St., WILMINGTON, Monday, February 1st, at 10:30 a.m. followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Dorothy Church, Main Street, Wilmington, at 11 a.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend and may visit with the family prior to the mass at the Dello Russo Funeral Home from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Services will conclude with burial at Wildwood Cemetery, Wilmington. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in Joe's memory to the Devlin Medical Scholarship Fund, 411 Main St., Stoneham, MA 02180.
