Margaret M. (Peggy) Connolly of Whitman, 89, passed away peacefully Thursday January 28, at South Shore Hospital after a short illness.
Mrs. Connolly was born in Cambridge, Massachusetts to Patrick J. and Mary E. Kirrane and was raised in Dorchester before moving to Charlestown. She was a graduate of Jeremiah E Burke High School and worked at Schrafft’s Restaurant in Boston, Cain’s Lobster House in Weymouth and for the Weymouth School System as a school bus driver before retiring in 1980.
Mrs. Connolly was predeceased by her husband of 65 years Francis X. Connolly, her parents, her brother Francis Kirrane, sons David and Timothy Connolly, grandson Robbie Dumas and son-in-law Mark Fitzgerald.
She is survived by her loving children Anne Marie Dumas (Bob) of Woburn, Stephen Connolly (Lorraine) of Islip Terrace, NY, Jane Fletcher of Florida, Barbara Kobs (William) of Plymouth, Thomas Connolly (Betty) of Abington, and Peggi Connolly of Whitman. She is also survived by 19 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren.
Her services will be held Monday February 1 at 8:15 AM from the Blanchard Funeral Chapel, Plymouth Street (Rte. 58 @ the rotary) Whitman, followed by a funeral mass at 9:00 AM in the Holy Ghost Church, Whitman. Interment will follow in the St. James Cemetery, Whitman. Visiting hours will be held Sunday January 31 from 3:00-7:00 PM.
