In Brighton, January 21, 2016 Karan L. (Sumstad) Mabrouk, age 56, passed away following a brief illness in St. Elizabeth’s Hospital with her loving family at her side. Karan was born in Taunton, the daughter of Jean (Fernandes)Sumstad of Taunton and the late Chester Sumstad. Karan had resided in Fall River the past few years and was formerly of Taunton. She was employed at Golden Living Wedgemere Nursing Home as a CNA. Karan enjoyed going to the beach, visiting the local casinos, caring for patients and above all cherished her time with family. Karan is survived by her three children Kyra Fernandez and her husband Josue of Taunton and Mohamed Mabrouk and his companion Natalia Luis both of Taunton and Joseph Rodriguez of Rocky Comfort, Missouri. She also leaves her grandchildren Luis, Ahrya, Alex Fernandez, Avri, Aydin and Aubry Mabrouk. She also leaves her sister Deborah Lavoie of Taunton and the late Patricia Thorne. A Celebration of Life gathering will be held at the Eagles Club in Taunton on Tuesday, February 16th from 6-9pm. Arrangements are under the direction of the O’Keefe-Wade Funeral Home in Taunton.
