Obituary

Shirley May (Anderson) Ricketson, 82, passed away on Monday, January 25,2016 surrounded by her loving family at the South Shore Hospital after a long period of declining health.

She was the loving wife of the late, Herbert S. Ricketson, Jr. She is survived by her 4 children, David S. Ricketson, Debra M. Moore and her husband Dennis, Bruce A. Ricketson and his wife Janis, and John W. Ricketson and his wife Maureen, all of Weymouth.

She also leaves behind 9 grandchildren, Heather, Danielle, & Brandi Moore and Brian, Eric, Samantha, John, Matthew, and Andrea Ricketson.

Shirley was born in Milford, MA and lived the majority of her life in Weymouth. She graduated in 1954 from Massachusetts Memorial Hospitals as a registered nurse. She then worked at the South Shore Hospital and did private duty nursing.

The highlight of her life, however, was raising her family and being actively involved with The Order of Rainbow for Girls, and DeMolay. Shirley welcomed all into her home and always had a cup of tea and an ear to listen. She was like a mother to many and later in life was simply called "Nana" by all.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Friday, January 29 from 4-8 p.m. at the CC Shepherd Funeral Home at 134 Pleasant St (Columbian Square)Weymouth and the funeral at 10 a.m on Saturday, January 30th at the Old South Union Church, 25 Columbian St.,Weymouth. Burial will immediately follow at the Blue Hills Cemetery in Braintree.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Shirley's memory to the Old South Union Church.
