Catherine A. Silver passed away peacefully on January 23rd. She was 97. Born and raised in Brighton, she was the daughter of the late Ernest and Gertrude (McGregor) Cook. Catherine lived in Lynn and Medford as well as many years at York Beach. She worked as a waitress at the famed Blinstrub’s in South Boston. She was devoted to her children and family and enjoyed good times with her many friends.


The beloved wife of the late Robert Silver, Stanley Zimmerman and former wife of the late Gordon Boire, Catherine was a loving mother to Gordon Boire and his wife Suzanne, David Boire and his wife Eileen, Patricia Greig and her husband Richard, Stephen Zimmerman and his wife Elizabeth, Eileen Giliberti and her husband Chief Frank Giliberti, MFD and the late Mark Zimmerman. She was a devoted grandmother to 11 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. She was a dear sister to Janette Cohen, Marie Alex, and the late Helen Baker, Gertrude Coveney, Jean Marshall, Kenneth, Ernest and Jerry Cook. Catherine is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Her funeral from will be from the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford, Friday, January 29th at 9 AM followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Francis of Assisi Church, 441 Fellsway West, Medford, at 10 AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours Thursday 4 - 8 PM. Services will conclude with burial at Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford.
