Obituary

Jenny Nourse of Canton, formerly of Quincy, died peacefully in the comfort of her home Wednesday January 20th, 2016 at the age of 94.

Devoted wife of the late Richard J. Nourse. Loving mother of Richard M. Nourse, his wife Mary Ann and Jennifer A. Rodman of Canton. Sister of the late Peter Mucciarone. Loving grandmother of Michael, Matthew, Amy , David and Edward Nourse, Elizabeth Stasio, and Michael and Molly Rodman.

One of her greatest joys was spending time with her 12 great grandchildren. Jenny was a professional photographer whose career spanned 7 decades. She and her late husband, Richard began their photography business together in the 1940's in Quincy MA. Jenny's passion and creative eye lead to many awards and a flourishing business that continues today into the third generation with her daughter and granddaughter.

Jenny was a Master Photographer and Craftsmen awarded by the Professional Photographers of America. She served on many professional photographic boards and was a mentor and role model to many female photographers during her career.

Her accomplishments were many. During the 1950's she wrote feature stories on the Red Sox, Celtics and Bruins for the Boston Globe, including several exclusive stories on Ted Williams. Another highlight of Jenny's writing career was a feature story on Danny Thomas while he was in Boston raising money for the future St Jude's Hospital. In 1955 Jenny won the title of Mrs. Massachusetts . The Boston Gas Company sponsored the contest and Jenny had to cook an entire meal in a gas oven from main course to dessert in an hour.

After winning the title she traveled to Florida to compete in the Mrs. America pageant. Jenny was the quintessential career woman and a trailblazer. She truly loved photographing people and creating memories that last a lifetime.

Her greatest love though was her family. Family and friends will honor and remember Jenny's life by gathering for calling hours at the Pushard Family Funeral Home, 210 Sherman St. Canton on Friday January 29 from 4-8PM. Internment will be private.
