Raymond E. Parker
Augusta, GA – Entered into rest Friday, January 22, 2016, Mr. Raymond E. Parker, 81, loving husband of 61 years to Frances Willene Parker.
Mr. Parker was a native of Milledgeville, GA but has lived in Augusta most of his life. He retired after 35 years from the United States Marine Corps, both Active and Reserves. He also retired from Norfolk Southern Railway after 33 years as the District Sales Manager. In his later years he lived in Burke County and served as Chairman of the Board of Elections. He was a Deacon at Gough Baptist Church and a member Rosemont Baptist Church in his later years. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He loved the Marine Corps, playing golf and making memories with his family.
Family members, in addition to his wife, include his daughters: Dianne P. Jarrett (Rusty) and Patti Rae Chavous; grandchildren: Russell Jarrett (Ruth), Ashley Rodwell (Chris), Rob Chavous (Lucy), and Kristen Smith (Tanner); great grandchildren: Caroline Mills Rodwell, Will Jarrett, Catherine Rodwell, and Sydnee Smith; sister: Nita Crenshaw; sister-in-law: Carolyn Taylor (Ronnie); and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, January 26, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Thomas Poteet & Son with Rev. Wes Lawson officiating. Burial will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park.
