Obituary

Josephine J. “Josie” (Williams) Maraglia, of Brockton, died Friday, January 22, 2016 at Good Samaritan Medical Center. She was the loving wife for 58 years of the late Joseph L. Maraglia. Born in Brockton, January 5, 1924, she was the daughter of the late Peter and Mary (Joseph) Williams. Josie was a graduate of Brockton High School, class of 1942, where she was Class Poet and Historian. She graduated from Mass College of Art, School of Practical Art in Boston. A retired employee for the City of Brockton, she was also a volunteer Case Reviewer for DSS; member of the former St. Margaret’s Sodality; Cub Scout Den Mother for ten years for Pac 74; Explorer Scout Secretary. In addition, Josie was a member of the Brockton Library Foundation, Brockton Council on Aging and AARP. She was an avid reader and enjoyed fashion design, painting, drawing Cape Cod landscapes, poetry and travel.
Josie is survived by a daughter Lori Maraglia; three sons, David and his wife Susan, Paul, and Mark and his wife Linda; four grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; two sisters, Rosemarie Sahady of Fall River and Barbara Mather of Assonet, and many nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Mildred Murphy.
Visiting Hours will be held in the Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont Street (Rte 123) Brockton, Tuesday 4-8pm. A Funeral Service will be held at the funeral home Wednesday at 10am, followed by burial in Calvary Cemetery.
