BEVERLY: Eleanor F. (McLaughlin) Craig, 86, died Friday, January 22, 2016 at the Methuen Village Assisted Living following an extended illness. She was the wife of the late Robert F. Craig who died in 2004.
Born in Salem on May 13, 1929, she was the daughter of the late John J. and Alice R. (Quinn) McLaughlin. She was a graduate of Beverly High School, Class of 1947 and had resided in Beverly most of her life before moving to Brooksby Village, Peabody in 2004. She also enjoyed wintering in North Fort Myers, Florida for many years.
Eleanor worked as a secretary in the Beverly public school system for several years. She had also once worked for New England Telephone Co. Eleanor was a veracious reader and loved to knit and enjoyed golfing.
She is survived by her adoring twin daughters and sons-in-law, Kathleen E. and Paul C. Jensen of Methuen and Maureen F. and James Palermo of Andover; four grandchildren, Paul C. Jensen, Jr. and his wife, Lauren, Kristen A. Blumetti and her husband, Stephen and Jennifer A. Palermo and Michael J. Palermo; a sister, Patricia Parent and her husband, Daniel and many nieces and nephews. She was also predeceased by her sister, Alice Kuszmar and her husband, Ted.
Her funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday in St. John the Evangelist Church, New Balch St., Beverly at 11 a.m. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend. There are no visiting hours. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her memory to the Methuen Village Compass Memory Support Unit, 4 Gleason St., Methuen, MA 01844. Interment will be held in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Salem.
