A. Louise Emond, 90, of Taunton, died peacefully on Saturday, January 16, 2016 at Golden Living Center Garden Place in Attleboro, MA after an extended struggle with Alzheimer’s disease. Mrs. Emond had been a resident there since July 2009.
Born in Taunton, MA on March 31, 1925, she was a daughter of the late Albert J. Phipps and Anna E. (Bissonnette) Phipps.
She was raised and educated in Taunton where she was a 1943 graduate of Taunton High School. Louise was employed in the payroll department of the former General Electric in Taunton, and finished her career in the administration office of the Paul A. Dever State School in Taunton until her retirement in 1987.
In her healthier years, Louise enjoyed knitting, completing puzzles, was an avid reader, and a great lover of ice cream. Above all, she loved time spent with her family.
She is survived by her beloved daughter and caretaker “Kitty” Susan (Horgan) Berry and her loyal son-in-law, James Berry, both of Taunton, MA; and her son, R. Brian Horgan, of Plymouth, MA.
She was the wife of the late Roger L. Emond, and the former wife of the late Robert B. Horgan. Louise was the sister of the late Ruth Phipps, William “Gus” Phipps, and Albert Phipps, all of Taunton, MA, and the late George Phipps of San Carlos, CA.
