Obituary

Ann (Hantis) Droukas, 92 years old of Brockton, died on January 8, 2016 from pneumonia at Good Samaritan Hospital having resided for two years at West Acres Nursing Home. She was the devoted wife of the late Peter Droukas, Jr. Ann was born and raised in Boston, daughter of the late Charles and Paula (Kanaris) Hantis. Ann graduated from Roxbury Memorial High School in 1941. After her marriage to Peter she resided in Brockton, and for many years Ann and Peter owned Droukas Cut Sole Company and Drew Tanning Company of Brockton. In her free time, Ann enjoyed boating and fishing, gardening and cars. She also loved traveling and studying history. She had been a member of the Ten Times One Club held at the Universalist Unitarian Church, the National Federation of Independent Business and the Brockton Historical Society and other local and national organizations. Ann will be remembered as an independent woman who also took an interest in the latest styles and fashion.
Ann was the mother of the late P. Ronald Droukas and Roger Droukas and is survived by her daughter Paulette Galvin and her son-in-law John Galvin and daughter-in-laws Janet Droukas and Patricia Droukas-Spurgeon. She was the sister of the late George and Perry Hantis and is survived by her sister, Teddy Pappas. Ann leaves 11 grandchildren, 13 great-grand children and 1 great-great grandchild.
Visitation will be on Saturday, January 30, 2016, 10am-12 noon in the Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont Street (Rte. 123), Brockton. A Celebration of Ann’s life will begin at noon.
