Obituary

WORCESTER: Phyllis A. (Buduo) Purcell, 84, of North Port, FL, formerly of Worcester and Meredith, NH, died December 31, 2015. Her husband of 60 years, retired Worcester Police Lieutenant, Thomas C. Purcell, died May 28, 2008.
She leaves four children, Thomas P. Purcell and his wife Kathleen of Oxford, daughter, Eileen A. Shanahan of Rutland, Robert A. Purcell and his wife Roberta of Providence, RI, James P. Purcell and his wife Virginia of Mendon; two brothers, Daniel Buduo of Worcester, Harold Buduo and his wife Pina of Worcester; 10 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Her son-in-law, Ronald F. Shanahan, died May 1, 2013.
She was born in Worcester on March 19, 1931, daughter of the late Anthony and Statia (Melincoff) Buduo. She lived in Worcester for many years and spent her summers in Meredith NH before moving to Florida in 1992.
Phyllis earned a degree in Business Administration from Lowell Technological Institute. She worked as a manager for the Massachusetts Department of Motor Vehicles for many years until she retired. While living in Florida, she was an active member of the Wednesday Quilting Club at the Port Charlotte Cultural Center. She will be remembered by many of her Florida neighbors as the West Price Boulevard Chief Information Officer.
A Memorial Mass will be held at 12 P.M on Saturday, March 19, in Our Lady of the Angels Church, 1222 Main St. Burial of ashes will be in the Massachusetts National Cemetery on Cape Cod, at a later date. The family suggests donations in memory of Phyllis be made to San Pedro Catholic Church Respite Care Program, 14380 Tamiami Trail, North Port, FL 34287.
