Raffaele Luciano

Raffaele Luciano, of Everett, formerly of Boston’s North End, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 14th, in the Massachusetts General Hospital. He was 80.

Born in Lapio, Avellino Italy, he was the son of the late Antonio and Filomena (Vozzella) Luciano. After graduating from high school, Raffaele moved to Switzerland with his brother for two years. In 1967, Raffaele married his wife Maria, and the two wed in Italy. They moved to the United States shortly thereafter, and raised their family in Boston’s North End. In 1985, Raffaele moved his family to Everett, where he lived for the past thirty years. A hardworking and dapper man, Raffaele was a tailor for Filene’s, where he worked up until his retirement, in 1996. In his spare time, Raffaele enjoyed gardening and making his own wine. Family was important to him, and he spent much of his time with his grandchildren. A man with a great sense of humor, he brought happiness and joy to those around him.

Raffaele was the beloved husband of Maria (DiPietro) Luciano. The devoted father of Anthony Luciano and his wife Deb of N. Reading. He was the loving grandfather of Michael and Matthew Luciano, both of N. Reading. The dear brother of Carmela Trodella and her late husband Giuseppe, Angela and Teresa Luciano, all of East Boston, Pasquale and Angelo Luciano, both of Italy. Brother-in-law of Lena Trodella and her late husband Pietro of Somerville. He is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.

Funeral from the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main Street, Medford, on Tuesday, January 19th at 8:45 AM, followed by a Funeral Mass celebrated in St. Leonard Church, Hanover St., Boston, at 9:45 AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours will be held on Monday from 4 through 8 PM. Services will conclude with entombment at Holy Cross Mausoleum, in Malden.
