Obituary

PEPI, Ella G. (Ripandelli), age 91, of Winthrop, formerly of East Boston, died peacefully at her home on Sunday, January 10, 2016. Born in East Boston on February 7, 1924, she was the only child of the late Rachela (Tarchea) and Girolamo Ripandelli, and the granddaughter of the late Mary and Peter Tarchea of Walpole. She was the beloved husband of the late William Pepi for over 55 years. Ella attended East Boston High School and later had a long career as a Manager of New England Mutual Life Insurance Company and then Head Teller at Cambridge Trust Co. She was an active communicant at Saint Mary Star of the Sea Parish in East Boston for 75 years. Ella enjoyed dancing, music, vacationing, travel, and entertaining others. She especially loved cooking for her family, whom she loved so much. Her pasta dinners complete with her "gravy", chicken cutlets, and "Mimi" cookies were a delight and a staple not to be missed. Above all, she loved her family and was a devoted wife, dedicated mother, and proud grandmother and great grandmother. She especially enjoyed spending time vacationing with them, supporting them, encouraging them, and feeding them. Her last clearly spoken words were "you are all wonderful". Ella's survivors include her children, Gerald Pepi and his wife Carol of Winthrop, and John Pepi and his wife Sandra of Maynard; her grandchildren Jennifer Pepi and her late husband Gregory of Winthrop, Lisa Oliphant and her husband Robert of Maynard, Rachel Williams and her husband Wally of Brockton, Michael Pepi and wife Shawna of Reading, Laurie Igo and her husband Christopher of Marshfield, Alicyn Thompson and her husband Chris of Winthrop, Kristen Kerouac her husband John of Stow, Potak Lam and his wife Vanessa of Danville, CA, and the late Joshua Pepi of Winthrop. In addition, she leaves over twenty great grandchildren of whom she was so proud. Her laughter, loving care and kisses will be missed. Funeral from the Maurice W. Kirby Funeral Home 210 Winthrop St. WINTHROP, on Thursday, Jan. 14, at 9am. A Funeral Mass will be held in St. John the Evangelist Church-Winthrop, at 10am. Relatives and friends are invited. Burial will follow at Holy Cross Mausoleum in Malden. Visiting hours are Wednesday, January 13, in the funeral home from 4 to 8pm.
