Obituary

Francis W. Sheehan, 93, of Weymouth, passed away suddenly on January 7, 2016 after a brief illness.
Francis was born and raised in Dorchester. He defended his country during World War II as a crewman in the Coast Guard and later became a Boston Police Officer, serving in South Boston for 33 years where he was known as "Mayor".
Francis was the loving husband of the late Helen (Libby McDonough) Sheehan, the father to Kelly Sheehan of Scituate, the step-father to Mari-Jane McDonough of East Bridgewater and the late Patrick J. McDonough of South Boston. Francis was the beloved son of the late Daniel F. Sheehan and Julia Barden Sheehan and the older brother of the late Daniel, Richard, John, Edna, and Robert. But most importantly, he was Grampie to Sean, Craig, Kristi, Todd, Kirk, and Jill, and Great-Grampie to Amelia, Liliana, and Karina (Carey), Ty and Alexis (McDonough), Emma, Owen, and Lucy (Barry), and Jack and Sam (Robbins) and of course Maeve, Maggie and Rocco.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend visiting hours for Francis on Monday January 11, 2016 from 6-8 PM at the C.C. Shepherd Funeral Home located at 134 Pleasant Street (Columbian Square) S. Weymouth. Relatives and friends will gather in the funeral home at 10AM on Tuesday for a celebration of life prior to the Funeral Mass at Sacred Heart Church in Weymouth at 11AM. Burial will immediately follow at the MA National Cemetery in Bourne.
